The Whitechapel Centre's Nature Gardening

Each Thursday a group of service users that attend The Whitechapel Centre, have been accessing  Everton Park Nature Garden.

They have been working  closely with the Wildlife Ranger there for a number of weeks, helping to restore the garden. The work has, and will  include woodland management, pond and meadow work plus lots, lots more!

The group of people involved, along with Whitechapel staff, are learning each week about their environment, and the wildlife within it.

The hope is that when the area is restored the Nature Garden will be a place for local people in the area, us here at The Whitechapel Centre to use.

Last week the group planted Daisy's  to help promote more  butterflies  in the meadow garden, and planted wildflower  plants for coverage.

They spoke with the Park Ranger regarding insects and fish in the pond, service users spotted dragon flies and we were able to look  at references  books  and learn to  what species they were.

The Nature Garden is looking to improve the park for people and wildlife of Everton, and in the process is providing a brilliant learning, working, outdoor team building experince for The Whitechapel attendees.
